About us

At May 11th 2020 Therapeutic sessions at NYRDA are currently suspended in accordance with guidance from RDA National who state “so many of our activities require close contact between participants. Our priority is the safety of participants, volunteers and staff; in most cases, we judge this to be at risk” Further announcements to follow.

New Yatt Riding for the Disabled is an incorporated charity based at North Leigh, West Oxfordshire. Since 1984 a dedicated team of RDA trained Coaches and 50+ volunteer helpers have provided regular riding lessons for the local disabled community. We operate from a dedicated 24 acre site with an indoor school. Our seven ponies and horses are carefully chosen for their temperament, size and ability to work with our riders. We are run by unpaid volunteers and, thanks to fundraising efforts including charitable grants and donations from our local community, can offer affordable riding to our participants.

Please DONATE here to support NYRDA during the current shutdown.

Many of our registered riders have a physical disability or learning difficulties, some may have both. Riding is widely recognised as an excellent form of therapy - building self-confidence, improving concentration, co-ordination and balance, providing recreation and sport. During current Covid 19 restrictions all our thoughts are with our riders and those volunteers who are currently unable to visit the yard. We look forward to the possibility of restarting some activities when appropriate guidance has been received.
